Every once in a while, I bring a new artist to my blog. I try to choose young people that are either beginning or are not very well known. Visibility never hurt anybody and it gives me a chance to know more people. After posting an entry of a Burmese / Mayanmar artist, I have decided to make the same thing for every one of the 55 African countries. For each country I will choose an artist, group or artform. It is a challenge and I believe I will have some fun doing it.
The image is a terracotta torso from the Niger Delta. It has been sold for $36,000 at Sotheby's.
