I know this is just for entertainment purposes, but it still is a bit
offensive to me, mainly in that it gives you only two choices for each
question. I think the majority of people, given a number of choices
ranging from most coservative to most liberal, will choose something in
middle give or take a little - at least for many issues. Look at the last
elections, all of which have been fairly close to 50/50. You could believe
that it's 50% very liberal democrats and 50% very conservative republicans,
but that wouldn't be accurate. I think this is part of the problem with
political discourse in our country. We've allowed the people who are
trying to represent the true ideals on either side take control of the
argument and the vast majority of people in this country who are reasonable
are left with a false dichotomy. If given the chance, the "grey area" in
the middle is something that I think most people are smart enough to
grapple with. I don't think everything is a black and white issue, but
unfortunately many times in the U.S., that's the only choice we are
given...
Absolutely, I actually think the largest majority of people are right in
the middle (I cheated the quiz above for blogworthy reasons). Ever since
the fall of the Berlin wall political parties became outdated and should
suffer some kind of reshuffle. Unfortunately I don't think the system is
that flexible. Where are the right and the left today after all, certainly
not where they used to be.
