My next reading will be Daniel Pennac's "Comme un Roman" / Better than Life, in its English translation. A nice author that I still need to discover, "Comme un Roman" is a book about reading and it was, when published, a huge success. Daniel Pennac is the ultimate French "literati", a school teacher, bookworm, pipe and all. But he is also very easy to read and has an appealing and media friendly personality.
The book has been given to me by a dear friend a while ago. I have lost trace of my friend who moved to Manchester in England, but I still kept the book.
The Reader's Bill of Rights, by Daniel Pennac (in Better than Life):
1. The right to not read
2. The right to skip pages
3. The right to not finish
4. The right to reread
5. The right to read anything
6. The right to escapism
7. The right to read anywhere
8. The right to browse
9. The right to read out loud
10. The right to not defend your tastes
