Back to blogging after a long, long vacation. My first posting goes to Xarope, a small but slick restaurant and bar in Cascais, a tourist/suburban village half an hour away from Lisboa, Portugal. The atmosphere is great, the service is perfect and very friendly and the food is just wonderful. A full meal for 3 people, including wine and dessert, goes for about $65. The wine list matches the appealing menu (wish the whole menu were online, it's too good to miss).
I have tried a perfect sea bass with tomato sauce and frittata, a tasty roast pork and zucchini and the grilled salmon with mint sauce. The Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice-Cream was a fatal temptation.
I can only say that whoever visits Cascais should visit this place. There are plenty of other places to eat, but none as classy as this small family-run Xarope.
