Michelangelo's David is being cleaned. This is an old project and has raised some serious controversy in the art world. Fortunately the statue can still be seen at the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence. I found some interesting articles on the restorer's heated dispute (here and here).

David's replica sits outside in Piazza Signoria, where they sell tourists giant lemonades. Florence is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited.
