Self Portrait by Robin Stoub

posted Friday, 11 November 2005

Surfing, I found Robin Stoub's works. This Self Portrait is by far my favorite painting, although I also liked Naomi Blue a lot. Robin's website, You are what you Art is also a great title. Robin lives and works in San Diego, or is it Japan?

Robin's Personal Statement:

Art for me is like science or mathematics, an attempt to reconcile the differences we perceive between our physical world and our consciousness. There are patterns everywhere that indicate a natural rhythm, a universal law that governs us.

I am motivated by my love of biology, physics, and politics. There is such amazing potential for growth and transformation in our bodies – kinetic, divine, chemical – and this relationship is the basis for much of my art.

Painting is a language, and also an alternative pedagogy. Learning helps to catalyze change, and it happens in myriad ways. I am passionate about analyzing these factors in my environment, and interpreting what is possible as a result.
