Tim Gaydos

posted Saturday, 10 September 2005

This Summer I have spent a wonderful time in Bar Harbor, Maine. Of the many attractions, the art galleries are definitely worth a visit. I know I visited as many as I could even though I couldn't take home but a minute percentage of the things I would have liked to buy.

My favorite gallery was the appealing Eclipse Gallery. Unfortunately they don't have a website, I will have to post some photos here later. Many glass artists, such as David Garcia (Beige Oval Eye Platter below) exhibit their work there. The owner is a prolific painter and I am very sorry that I haven't been able to find his work online to post here.

Another great gallery to visit is the Birdsnest Gallery. One of the artists they represent is Tim Gaydos, whose work I really like. His pastel Coffee Break below is just amazing, as well as the Afternoon Coffee (from the Chamot Gallery website).

This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Artist Tim Gaydos of Patterson, New Jersey, has been a master pastelist of the Pastel Society of America since 1987.
Gaydos has had solo exhibitions at The Montclair Art Museum and the Bergen Museum in New Jersey. He has won over one hundred awards including the American Watercolor Society Gold Medal in 1995.
In 2002 Tim Gaydos was awarded the American Watercolor Society Silver Medal of Honor.
