Whenever I visit London, the first place I visit is the Townley Sculptures, room 84 of the Lower Level in the British Museum. It pretty much contains a great number of my favorite sculptures ever. Unfortunately this Summer, just as the last time I tried to visit, the Gallery is closed until September. Most unfair!! Fortunately they have moved the Discobolus to a different hall.
At least I can still see Antinous in room 85. To see all the Antinous, go here. Antinous came to stand for gay love. For me, he just stands for myth and beauty.
He has a certain aspect that i have seen before in gay men. Makes me
wonder if sexuality might actually be genetic. Thank you for identifying
this gallery. I will visit next time i'm in london.
